Week 3- How Cameras Work

This week, the first thing we touched upon was the ethics of photo manipulation and how we can change reality at the click on a mouse. With the way technology is advancing, we are starting to find it hard to distinguish between realism and surrealism. Women in magazines are being portryed as perfect women which in turn gives young women an impossible standard to reach thus turning people anorexic and depressed to name a few.
Nothing bends the rules of reality more than video games. Graphics are becoming so good that they look like movies more than games. Take this game for example:

We then went on to learn how cameras work. I was amazed at how much cameras resemble the workings of human eyes. Eyes have pupils to let in light, cameras have apertures. Eyes have muscles to focus, cameras have lenses. Eyes have retinas, cameras have sensors. The list goes on and it was fascinting of how shutter speeds and apertures worked they can be adjusted just like our eyes.
